William T. Steffens has over 35 years of transportation and planning experience. He is responsible for all project work produced in the New England region, ensuring that appropriate personnel and resources are available to accomplish work tasks, and is the principal source of contact for clients and team members.
Prior to joining McMahon, he served as the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Assistant General Manager where he was responsible for major project development, public/private partnerships, and privatization of transportation services. He previously held the position of Deputy Commissioner of the former Massachusetts Highway Department, responsible for administration and policy development for the agency. He was also involved with promoting High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) projects, establishing the Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Group, and implementing the Southeast Expressway HOV Lane using moveable barrier technology.
