Tredyffrin Township’s Gateway Multimodal Study evaluated mobility and safety for pedestrians, bicyclists, and transit users in the northeast section of the municipality near the Gateway Shopping Center. The study identified specific multimodal solutions within the core of the study area in order to connect popular destinations such as the shopping center, the local middle school, Chester Valley Trail, as well as neighborhoods and various businesses. These recommendations included sidewalk connections and improved access to bus stops which were illustrated with conceptual improvement plans to be used to advance these priority recommendations and to seek grant funding in the future. Other long-term multimodal recommendations were developed for the outlying streets that included pedestrian and bicycle route connections. The study also included a detailed implementation section and identified potential funding sources to guide the municipality in the advancement of the study recommendations.
The study included a comprehensive public outreach component including a collaborative study process with the study advisory committee, a stakeholder field walk, and a community meeting.
