McMahon prepared a traffic impact study for a proposed retail redevelopment in Waterford, CT. The redevelopment of the former Family Bowl site includes a new ALDI Supermarket and accompanying retail/restaurant land uses. McMahon was responsible for data collection and traffic analysis as part of the study. The study included an assessment of existing and future traffic operating conditions of the intersections and roadways in the study area, which included five signalized intersections along Route 1. A safety review including crash data and sight distance evaluation was conducted for the study area intersections. McMahon prepared an update to Connecticut DOT Signal Plan for the intersection of Route 1 and Clark Lane to accommodate the new site driveway approach to the intersection and associated pedestrian improvements at the intersection. In addition, McMahon prepared the Connecticut DOT Encroachment Permit Application on behalf of the client where the proposed driveway abuts a state-owned roadway. McMahon presented the traffic study results at town board meetings.
